Accord Elders Give Adeleke Seven-Day Deadline To Endorse Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim
Leaders and stakeholders of the Accord Party in Osun State have given Governor Ademola Adeleke a seven-day ultimatum to publicly endorse the party's presidential candidate, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, warning that failure to do so could cost him their support in the August 2026 governorship election.

The decision was reached during a meeting of Accord elders and grassroots mobilisers held on July 13, 2026. The group directed the governor to publicly declare support for Olawepo-Hashim by July 21 or face the withdrawal of their political structures, supporters and votes from his re-election campaign.

Speaking for the stakeholders, Alhaji Abass Olaniyi, Elder Timothy Ponle, Hon. Mrs. Folasade Owojori and Hon. Mrs. Apeke Adewale said the party's governorship and presidential ambitions must be pursued together, insisting that loyalty to the Accord Party should extend to all its candidates.

They noted that many members left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alongside Adeleke and Olawepo-Hashim to strengthen the Accord Party, making it unacceptable for any candidate to distance themselves from the party's presidential flag bearer.

The stakeholders also called on Governor Adeleke to invite Olawepo-Hashim to Osun State within two weeks to officially launch the party's presidential campaign, describing the move as a demonstration of commitment to the Accord's national leadership.

According to the group, if the governor ignores the deadline, they will begin consultations with other governorship candidates ahead of the election.

They maintained that their position is intended to strengthen the party by ensuring unity and commitment among all candidates contesting under the Accord platform, while reaffirming their support for Olawepo-Hashim's 2027 presidential ambition.
