‘Bringing Buhari Back To Power Worst Thing Done To Nigeria’ – Sam Amadi
Political analyst and Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Dr. Sam Amadi, has described late former President Muhammadu Buhari’s return to office in 2015 as “the worst thing” that happened to Nigeria.
Amadi made the remark in a post on his X handle on Saturday while reacting to reports detailing ongoing corruption investigations and prosecutions involving several former senior government officials who served under the Buhari administration.
“Probably the worst thing done to this country is to bring Buhari to power again. All who participated in that tragedy should at least say ‘I am sorry’,” he wrote.
His comment followed reports highlighting ongoing investigations, prosecutions and asset forfeiture proceedings involving former public officials, including ex-Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Godwin Emefiele, former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, former Accountant-General of the Federation Ahmed Idris, former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika, former Minister of Power Saleh Mamman, and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.
The cases, which are being handled by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, involve allegations of corruption, money laundering, contract fraud and diversion of public funds running into hundreds of billions of naira.
While some of the accused persons are still standing trial, others have denied the allegations, and the matters remain before the courts.
