Burna Boy, Shakira Make History As World Cup Anthem Tops Billboard Global Chart
Nigerian Afrofusion star Burna Boy has achieved a major career milestone after his FIFA World Cup 2026 anthem with Colombian music icon Shakira, "Dai Dai," reached No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart.
During the July 3–9, 2026 tracking week, the official World Cup song climbed to the summit of the global rankings while also extending its stay at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for a third consecutive week.
The achievement makes "Dai Dai" the first official FIFA World Cup anthem to top either chart since the rankings were introduced in 2020.
According to music analytics company Luminate, the song generated 41.5 million global streams, an eight percent increase from the previous week, and recorded 6,000 sales. Outside the United States, it amassed 37.1 million streams and sold 4,000 units.
The chart-topping success marks Burna Boy's first-ever No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, while Shakira earns her second chart-topper after "TQG" with Karol G reached the summit in 2023.
The pair first performed "Dai Dai" during the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on June 11, entertaining more than 80,000 spectators.
The World Cup concludes on July 19, with a star-studded halftime show featuring Shakira, Justin Bieber, BTS, and Madonna scheduled for the final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Elsewhere on the Billboard Global 200, Ariana Grande's "Hate That I Made You Love Me" slipped to No. 2 after a two-week run at the top, while Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" climbed to No. 3. Michael Jackson's classic "Billie Jean" remained at No. 4, with Olivia Rodrigo's "Stupid Song" rounding out the top five.
On the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, BTS's "Swim" held the No. 2 position, followed by Ariana Grande, Michael Jackson, and Justin Bieber's "Beauty and a Beat" featuring Nicki Minaj.
