Chidimma Adetshina Back in Cape Town Court in Deportation Fight
Former Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, appeared at the Cape Town Regional Court on Thursday, July 16, 2026, as she continues her legal battle to stay in South Africa.
The former Miss South Africa contestant submitted an affidavit to the court detailing steps she says she has taken to sort out her immigration status. The document forms part of her challenge against deportation proceedings filed by the Department of Home Affairs.
Adetshina was arrested on June 6 and made her first court appearance on June 9. She was released on warning and the case was postponed.
Home Affairs alleges that Adetshina and her young son have been living in South Africa without valid documents. Court papers also claim she entered the country at a time when she was not allowed to do so. The department is asking the court to approve her deportation.
The allegations have not been proven in court and remain part of the ongoing case.
The matter was adjourned for further proceedings.
