The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Edo State Chapter, and Executive Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson, in a moving display of respect, solidarity, and honour for a life well lived, on Thursday joined the Edo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, alongside top government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, political stakeholders, family members, and sympathisers, to bid a final farewell to Late Mrs. Victoria Ohonbamu (née Isikpojie).
The solemn ceremony was more than a funeral; it was a celebration of a remarkable woman whose steadfast faith, strength of character, humility, and devotion to family produced a legacy that continues to shine through the lives of her children and everyone privileged to know her.
The Edo ALGON Chairman, Sunny Ekpeson's presence at the ceremony reflected the deep bonds of unity and mutual respect that exist among leaders working to advance the progress of Edo State while recognising those whose quiet sacrifices laid the foundation for exemplary public service.
It will be recalled that following the passing of the revered matriarch, the Edo ALGON Chairman personally paid a condolence visit to Hon. Paul Ohonbamu and the entire Ohonbamu family, where he described the late Mrs. Victoria Ohonbamu as a woman who fulfilled her divine assignment with honour and distinction.
He noted that she nurtured her children with the fear of God, sound moral values, compassion, discipline, and an enduring passion for serving humanity—qualities that have become evident in the lives they now lead.
The funeral drew an impressive gathering of eminent personalities from across Edo State, with tributes pouring in from friends, associates, and admirers who described the late matriarch as a virtuous woman whose kindness, wisdom, and selflessness left an indelible mark on society.
Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the life and legacy of Late Mrs. Victoria Ohonbamu remain a powerful reminder that behind many outstanding leaders stands a devoted parent whose love, guidance, and sacrifices shape destinies and inspire generations.
He prayed for God's comfort upon Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, the Ohonbamu family, and all who mourn her passing, asking the Almighty God to grant the departed eternal rest and reward her for a life devoted to faith, family, and humanity.
