Francis Duru: Family Announces Burial Arrangements For Nollywood Veteran
The family of late Nollywood actor, Chief Francis Duru, has announced his burial arrangements, with funeral activities scheduled to take place in Abuja and Imo State in November and December.
Duru, who died on October 22, 2026, will be laid to rest on December 11, 2026, at his family compound in Okai, Eziama, Isiala Mbano, Imo State.
In a statement published on the actor’s Instagram page on Monday, the family said a Service of Songs and Tributes would hold at 5pm on Wednesday, November 25, at Family Worship Centre, Idris Gidado Street, Wuye, Abuja.
Another Service of Songs and Tributes is scheduled for Thursday, December 10, at the family compound of his late father, Pa Theophilus Ogide Duru, in Okai, Eziama, Isiala Mbano.
The funeral service and interment will follow on Friday, December 11, at the same venue.
The statement was jointly signed by the actor’s sister, Anthonia Chenyi, and his first son, Ebuka Duru.
The family also disclosed that additional tribute events could be organised by industry associations, including the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), in coordination with Fada Ejyk and Ogechi Ekpe.
Relatives, friends, colleagues and fans were invited to join the family in celebrating the life and legacy of the actor, remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.
Duru’s death on October 22, 2026, marked the loss of another familiar face in Nigeria’s movie industry. He was 57.
