‘I Feared Losing My Legs’: Broda Shaggi Breaks Silence on Stray Bullet Ordeal
Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator Samuel Animashaun Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has recounted his terrifying near-death experience after being hit by a stray bullet while filming a comedy skit in Ogun State.

The entertainer disclosed that the incident, which occurred on March 9, 2026, around the Sango-Ota Bridge, left him fearing he might never regain full use of his legs.

In an emotional video shared on social media, Broda Shaggi narrated how the shooting happened shortly after he and his crew had completed an activation and were preparing to leave the area.

According to him, he was caught off guard by a loud bang while they were trapped in traffic amid a crowd gathered around the filming location.

“Suddenly, I heard a loud bang, and everything went silent. I could see people talking, but I couldn’t hear anything. It was total silence in the car. Then I touched my hip and saw blood. That was when I realised I had been hit by a stray bullet,” he recalled.

The comedian said he lost consciousness and could barely remember how he was transported to the hospital. He, however, remembered praying as his crew rushed him to a medical facility.

“I was totally unconscious till I got to the hospital. So, I didn’t even know how we got to the hospital. But one thing I could remember was me praying till we got to the first hospital, where first aid was administered,” he said.

Following initial emergency treatment at a private hospital in Alakuko, Lagos State, Broda Shaggi was transferred to another facility in Ikeja because of the severity of his injury and the need for specialised medical care.

He later travelled to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he underwent a successful surgical operation.

The entertainer said his recovery progressed encouragingly after the surgery, revealing that he was able to stand with support on the second day and walk with the aid of crutches on the third day.

Despite the progress, Broda Shaggi admitted that the uncertainty surrounding his recovery took a heavy emotional toll on him.

Known for his energetic performances and physically demanding comedy skits, he feared that the injury could permanently affect his ability to entertain audiences.

“There were moments where I would see videos of my colleagues. I would laugh, and sometimes I would just start to cry because I wasn’t sure if I would still be able to do all these things they were doing again,” he said.

His prolonged absence from social media had sparked questions among fans, many of whom were unaware of the ordeal he was battling privately.

Broda Shaggi expressed gratitude to God that the bullet did not hit a more vital organ, while also appreciating his fans for their concern, prayers and support throughout his recovery.

His account offers a glimpse into the frightening experience behind his months away from the spotlight and the emotional struggle of confronting the possibility that he might never perform the way he once did.
