Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has announced her return to the movie industry after making her celebrity boxing debut against reality TV star Phyna.
Blessing suffered a knockout defeat in the highly anticipated bout but described her brief boxing experience as a courageous feat, revealing that she trained for just two days before stepping into the ring.
Reacting to the outcome in an Instagram post on Friday, the actress insisted that the defeat had not diminished her pride in the effort she put into the fight.
“Still a CHAMPION regardless of the result… even the blind knows who the winner is,” she wrote.
“Now let’s go back to making movies cus I no be boxer.”
Despite the knockout loss, Blessing said she would not rule out another appearance in the ring.
“Will I do this again? OH YES,” she declared in a separate post.
Reflecting on her debut, the actress said she had never raised her hands to fight anyone before the contest but summoned the courage to face the challenge and “fought like a warrior.”
She also dedicated the experience to her late mother, Gloria Obasi Sunday, revealing that she had wanted her mother to be part of the memorable occasion.
“Mummy were you watching? Did you also hear when they played your favorite song? I wanted you around that was why I asked for that song,” she wrote.
