The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State is reportedly facing a wave of resignations following the party's House of Representatives primary election, which produced Barr. Balogun Bamidele as the party's candidate.

Among those said to have resigned from the party are Hon. Afowosoro Sunday, Mark Kpamehase Michael, Ebiaku Samuel Tartar, Juliet Perebo, alongside several other prominent party members and grassroots supporters.

The development comes amid growing dissatisfaction among some party stakeholders who have expressed concerns over what they describe as the prolonged marginalisation of certain parts of Akoko-Edo in the distribution of political opportunities.

According to party members who spoke on the situation, many aggrieved men, women and youths have vowed not to support the APC's House of Representatives candidate in the forthcoming election, insisting that the interests of their communities have not been adequately represented over the years.

The wave of resignations is said to be gathering momentum, with reports indicating that more party leaders and stakeholders are continuing to submit resignation letters, raising fresh concerns over the unity and electoral strength of the APC in Akoko-Edo ahead of the next election.
