Okey Bakassi Debunks Divorce Rumours, Says Family Is Intact
Nigerian comedian and actor Okey Bakassi has dismissed reports claiming that his marriage has collapsed, describing the allegations as false, malicious and disrespectful to his family.
The entertainer, whose real name is Okechukwu Anthony Onyegbule, addressed the rumour in a social media post, urging family members, friends and fans to disregard the report.
Bakassi clarified that his wife was in Canada, not the United States as claimed in the report, adding that they remain together and recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.
He also dismissed claims that his wife works as a nurse, accusing the originator of the report of spreading false information to attract attention and generate online engagement.
“It’s so disrespectful and sad that, out of desperation to get views or create viral content, someone will go to the extent of spreading fake news about my very happy family,” he said.
The comedian further urged his followers to report the account responsible for the publication on X, formerly Twitter, for allegedly violating the platform’s rules.
“My family is intact and in God’s hands,” he added.
Last week, Bakassi celebrated the couple’s 25th wedding anniversary by sharing a video collage featuring his wife and their three children.
Reflecting on their journey, the veteran entertainer recounted how they first met, were separated by their pursuit of higher education, and eventually reunited.
He said their celebration was not about setting records or proving critics wrong, but about appreciating their journey together and reaffirming their decision to build a life as a couple.
