Senior ISWAP Finance Operative Surrenders As More Terrorists Lay Down Arms In North East
The fight against insurgency in Nigeria's North East has recorded another major breakthrough as troops of Operation HADIN KAI received the surrender of a senior finance operative of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The suspect surrendered to troops of the 3 Battalion under the 24 Task Force Brigade on Saturday, July 25, 2026, along the Ladari–Jegarawa–Tunokalia axis of the Gamboru–Wulgo Main Supply Route. He was accompanied by his two male children.
Military authorities said the surrendered terrorist was the chief finance operative of the ISWAP enclave at Jubillaram, where he managed the group's finances and logistics.
Recovered from him were an AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 101 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a motorcycle, and ₦40,000.
The development comes as about 46 terrorists and their family members have voluntarily surrendered to Operation HADIN KAI in recent days, following sustained land and air offensives against terrorist hideouts across the North East.
The surrendered suspect is currently undergoing profiling and interrogation to provide intelligence that will support ongoing military operations.
The military says the surrender is another indication that sustained pressure on terrorist groups is weakening their command structure and encouraging more fighters to abandon the insurgency.
Operation HADIN KAI has reaffirmed its commitment to restoring lasting peace and security in the North East while urging remaining terrorists to surrender and members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies.
