Three Days After Certificate of Return, Sunny Ekpeson Records First Major Victory as Agenebode College Upgraded to Aqua-culture and Science & Technology Institution
Barely three days after receiving his Certificate of Return from the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) as the Chairman-Elect of Etsako East Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson is already being celebrated as another major milestone unfolds for the people of Etsako East.

In what many have described as a promising sign of greater things to manifest, the College of Agriculture, Agenebode has officially been upgraded into a higher institution with a Science and Technology status, placing it on a level comparable to a polytechnic. The institution will now be known as the College of Aquaculture, Agenebode.

The landmark legislation was signed into law on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, by the Executive Governor of Edo State, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo, following its passage by the Edo State House of Assembly under the leadership of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku.

Beyond the change of name, the upgraded institution is expected to witness a new era of academic growth with the introduction of six additional departments, significantly expanding educational opportunities for students, boosting research and innovation, and strengthening manpower development in aquaculture, science, and technology.

The news comes on the heels of the remarkable record already established by Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson. Widely acknowledged for his commitment to grassroots development, he spearheaded an unprecedented wave of infrastructural projects across the three zones of Etsako East, with 53 major projects reportedly completed, touching critical sectors such as roads, education, healthcare, water supply, and community development.

With the elevation of the College of Agriculture to the College of Aquaculture, Agenebode, complete with six new academic departments, many see this as not only a victory for education but also a defining moment in the ongoing development story of Etsako East Local Government Area.
