2027: 𝗪𝗲’𝗹𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗶𝗱𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗢𝘄𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝘆 𝗜𝗳 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 — 𝗞𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗼

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), says an administration led by presidential candidate Peter Obi would reintroduce fuel subsidy in a different form if elected in 2027.
 
Kwankwaso made the statement on Tuesday during an interview with Arise News, while discussing the removal of petrol subsidy by President Bola Tinubu and the opposition’s economic plans.
 
“We are bringing subsidy in our own way,” Kwankwaso said, adding that the government could invest in building more refineries to increase domestic production and reduce petrol prices.
 
He argued that if private investors could establish refineries in Nigeria, government could also build refineries where necessary to meet the country’s fuel requirements.
 
Kwankwaso also criticised Tinubu’s decision to remove the subsidy immediately after assuming office in May 2023, saying the manner of implementation contributed to the economic hardship experienced by Nigerians.
