2027: Soludo Inaugurates Tinubu Campaign Council In Anambra, Urges South-East Support
Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has inaugurated the Bola Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council in the state, bringing together members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Soludo, who inaugurated the council at the International Convention Centre, Awka, on Sunday, called on the two parties to unite behind President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid, urging members to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the state's 21 local government areas.
The governor described political cooperation with the Federal Government as being in the strategic interest of the South-East, arguing that closer ties with the centre would enhance the region's political relevance and development.
Addressing party leaders, elected officials and other stakeholders at the ceremony, Soludo urged residents of the South-East to join what he described as a progressive movement, insisting that political unity was necessary for the region to remain relevant in Nigeria's evolving political landscape.
"We must work together for the re-election of the President. This is a journey that is for everybody in the region with one objective, which is to get Mr President re-elected," he said.
He directed campaign council members to concentrate their mobilisation efforts at ward and polling-unit levels, stressing that grassroots engagement would be central to the campaign.
Soludo also defended Tinubu's economic reforms, crediting them with improved economic stability, increased investment interest and infrastructural development.
According to him, the President has demonstrated commitment to the South-East through federal allocations and infrastructure projects, despite the region's voting pattern during the 2023 presidential election.
"We must not waste our votes again in 2027. In 2023, the region didn't vote for him, but he still emerged as President and despite that, he is doing a lot for the region. Therefore, we must massively cast our votes for Mr President in 2027," the governor said.
He further identified railway projects, gas pipelines and other critical infrastructure as areas requiring collaboration between state and federal governments, noting that Anambra could not independently finance such projects.
The inauguration followed the singing of Tinubu's campaign slogan, "On the mandate we shall stand", by members of the gathering.
Soludo disclosed that the full structure of the campaign council, comprising APGA and APC members, would be unveiled soon.
