Aston Villa Agree Deal To Sign Garnacho From Chelsea
Aston Villa have reached an agreement with Chelsea for the signing of Argentina winger Alejandro Garnacho, according to reports from Sky Sports.
The deal is structured as an initial loan with a conditional obligation to buy, with the performance-related conditions understood to be easily achievable.
The overall package, including the loan fee, is believed to match Chelsea's valuation of the 22-year-old, which had been reported at around £42.6 million.
Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United last summer in a deal worth £40 million but endured a difficult debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.
He struggled for regular playing time in a highly competitive attacking unit and did not report for the club's pre-season training as he sought a move elsewhere.
The agreement comes shortly after Chelsea completed the British-record £117 million signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, highlighting the growing transfer business between the two Premier League clubs.
During the 2025/26 Premier League season, Garnacho made 25 appearances but featured for just 1,217 minutes, averaging fewer than 49 minutes per game.
He registered five goal contributions, averaging one every 243 minutes.
By comparison, Villa's Morgan Rogers and Emiliano Buendía were more productive from the left flank, recording goal involvements every 90 and 190 minutes respectively.
Should the move be completed, Villa manager Unai Emery may need to adjust his tactical setup to maximise Garnacho's strengths.
While Rogers and Buendía are comfortable drifting into central areas and operating across multiple attacking positions, Garnacho is a more direct winger who prefers taking on defenders in wide areas.
The Argentine has also shown he can play on the right wing, notably scoring in Manchester United's FA Cup final victory over Manchester City, although he is less inclined to cut inside compared to Villa's current wide options.
