With hearts of faith and trust in Divine Providence, the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City announces the appointment of Most Rev. (Dr.) Donatus Ogun, OSA as the Apostolic Administrator  of the Archdiocese of Benin City.

This appointment takes effect immediately and follows the passing to eternal glory of our late Archbishop, Most Rev. (Dr.) Augustine Obiora Akubeze

As Apostolic Administrator, Most Rev. Ogun will preside over the spiritual and administrative affairs of the Archdiocese pending the appointment of a substantive Archbishop by the Holy See.

Most Rev. (Dr.) Donatus Ogun, OSA is a member of the Order of St. Augustine and Bishop of Uromi Diocese. He brings to this office years of pastoral experience, theological formation, and dedication to the service of the Church in Nigeria.

We thank God for the life, ministry, and legacy of Archbishop Augustine Obiora Akubeze. We pray that God grants him peaceful rest and eternal reward for his years of selfless service to the Church and to humanity.

The clergy, religious, and lay faithful of the Archdiocese are enjoined to accord Most Rev. Ogun the full support of prayers, cooperation, and obedience as he undertakes this new responsibility for the good of the Church.

We entrust the Archdiocese, the clergy, and all the faithful to the maternal intercession of *Our Lady, Seat of Wisdom*. May she guide us, protect us, and obtain for us the grace of unity and peace during this period of transition.

This was contained in a letter from the Chancery of the Archdiocese of Benin.

The Catholic Church is unique.
