Carrick Gets Chelsea Lifeline As Man Utd Crisis Deepens
Michael Carrick is reportedly set to remain Manchester United manager for Saturday’s Premier League showdown against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, despite mounting pressure following the club’s alarming slump.

According to reports from the BBC, Sky Sports and the Press Association, United’s hierarchy will give the 45-year-old another opportunity to turn the team’s fortunes around after eight consecutive games without a win.

The pressure intensified following Sunday’s humiliating 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth, which left the Red Devils just one point above the relegation zone.

Carrick returned to United’s Carrington training ground on Tuesday to oversee a routine training session, with the club yet to make an official announcement on his future.

The former United and England midfielder was handed a two-year contract in May after masterminding an impressive revival as caretaker manager following Ruben Amorim’s departure. His efforts helped United finish third in the Premier League and secure Champions League qualification.

However, the team’s latest collapse has raised serious questions about his ability to sustain that progress. United have won just two of their 12 matches across all competitions this season, while seven points from their opening eight league games represent their worst start to a league campaign in 40 years.

Carrick declined to address his future directly after the Bournemouth defeat, although sections of the home crowd chanted his name in a show of support. Fans, however, directed much of their anger at the players and the club’s hierarchy.

Former United captain Wayne Rooney also criticised the players over their recent performances, insisting they had failed to justify the supporters’ frustration.

“The players haven’t got a leg to stand on. What’s not fair is the performances they are giving,” Rooney said on the Stick to United podcast.

Carrick now faces a crucial test at Stamford Bridge, with United desperate to halt their slide and ease fears of an unexpected relegation battle.
