Celebrating The Gains Of Gov. Okpebholo's Strategic London Engagement Visit
Giving account of his stewardship, opening doors for investment, creating opportunities, and assuring progress for Edo people, even in the diaspora.
The administration of _Senator Monday Okpebholo_, Governor of Edo State, has once again demonstrated its commitment to global partnerships with a strategic working visit to London, United Kingdom.
The visit was symbolic as it provided an account of His Excellency’s stewardship, clearly distinguishing practical governance from propaganda, and showcasing leadership driven by vision.
As a participant, I watched how the crowd applauded Mr. Governor while viewing highlights of his developmental strides under the _SHINE AGENDA_. From security to healthcare and infrastructure, both young and old were seen dancing and singing praises of His Excellency to the admiration of the diaspora community.
In the area of education, everyone watched in admiration as old and neglected schools have been given a new lease of life, simply because a man with empathy, sent by God to rescue Edo, emerged as Governor.
Before the Edo diaspora community, His Excellency positioned Edo State as the new investment destination in Nigeria. He offered free land to any Edo indigene with a viable plan to establish an industry in the state, as a demonstration of his commitment and that of the Edo State Government.
His discussions also centered on the government’s impact in agriculture and technology, including plans to establish a _Cisco Academy_ in Edo State to train our youth to compete globally.
One of the highpoints was seeing Edo sons and daughters in the UK turn out in large numbers to present gifts and awards to the Governor in appreciation of his notable programs and policies that have brought relief to Edo State. The diaspora remains a critical engine for development, and Senator Monday reiterated his commitment to carry them along in the journey of Edo’s progress.
This London visit will translate into real benefits for our people. With the security architecture already established and on display, diasporains will have the confidence to return home and invest, which in turn will create jobs for our youths.
Edo is being rebranded as safe, open for business, and ready for development, a catalyst for greater impact, including from foreign investors.
Even when the atmosphere became rowdy with excitement as people scrambled to take pictures and videos with His Excellency, I watched how he took time to answer questions from those who were orderly, in order to maintain decorum in the hall. This is unlike leaders who avoid questions. Indeed, this is a leader who cares and wants to feel the pulse of his people at all times.
The visit will also boost DIASPORA REMITTANCE AND SUPPORT, as stronger ties with Edo people abroad means increased support for community projects and more inflows back home.
