De Zerbi Imposes Mobile Phone Ban On Tottenham Players In Bid To Rescue Season
Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi has imposed a strict mobile phone ban on his players during mealtimes as he attempts to rebuild team spirit and halt the club’s alarming start to the Premier League season.

Spurs have endured a disastrous opening six league matches, remaining winless, scoring just three goals and languishing at the bottom of the table ahead of Monday’s encounter with newly promoted Coventry City.

In a bid to address the crisis, De Zerbi introduced the unusual measure during a recent training camp in Marbella, Spain, prohibiting players from using their mobile phones during breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The Italian tactician believes the move will encourage greater interaction among players, strengthen relationships within the squad and foster a renewed sense of collective responsibility.

“We worked on the pitch, we stayed together,” De Zerbi explained.

“We removed phones from breakfast, lunch and dinner to stay together, and to speak, because now it’s like [on the phone] all the time.”

The Spurs manager also disclosed that the squad held two or three important meetings to discuss football, the team’s precarious situation and the need for every player to take responsibility.

“Some dinners just for the players, some dinners with the staff,” he added.

The initiative is part of De Zerbi’s broader effort to improve unity and commitment as Tottenham struggle to find their footing this season.

With confidence seemingly at a low ebb and results failing to improve, the former Brighton and Marseille manager is looking beyond tactical adjustments, hoping that stronger personal connections and improved team chemistry can help revive the club’s fortunes.

Monday’s clash against Coventry could provide an important opportunity for Spurs to begin their recovery and ease the mounting pressure surrounding their troubled campaign.
