Eid-el-Maulud: Sunny Ekpeson Felicitates Muslim Faithful, Urges Etsako East Residents to Embrace Unity, Peace, Fight Insecurity And Drug Abuse
The Chairman-Elect of Etsako East Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson, has felicitated Muslim faithful across Etsako East, Edo State and Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, urging residents to embrace unity, peaceful co-existence and collective responsibility as pathways to sustainable development.

Ekpeson, in a goodwill message marking the celebration, called on Muslims and residents across the council area to draw inspiration from the exemplary life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), particularly his virtues of humility, compassion, sacrifice, tolerance, selflessness and peaceful co-existence.

He stressed that Etsako East would achieve greater development when its people work together as one, irrespective of religious, political or ethnic differences, noting that unity remains critical to confronting the challenges confronting the council area.

According to him, the fight against insecurity, drug abuse and other social vices requires a collective effort involving government, traditional institutions, religious bodies, parents, youths, community leaders and other stakeholders.

Ekpeson urged Muslims to use the occasion not merely for prayers and festivities, but as an opportunity for deep reflection on the values of sacrifice, perseverance, brotherhood, compassion and service to humanity which characterised the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad.

He also appealed to religious and community leaders to intensify their advocacy for peace, responsible citizenship, tolerance and mutual respect, while encouraging residents to extend love, care and support to the less privileged and vulnerable members of society.

The Chairman-Elect further called on parents, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths and community stakeholders to strengthen the collective campaign against drug abuse, warning that the proliferation and abuse of illicit drugs pose a grave threat to the future of young people and the socio-economic development of Etsako East.

β€œEtsako East belongs to all of us. If we must achieve the development we desire, we must stand together, protect one another and reject everything that threatens the peace and future of our communities,” Ekpeson said.

He maintained that a peaceful and united Etsako East would be better positioned to attract development, protect its people and create opportunities for its youths, stressing that the responsibility for building a better council area rests on everyone.

Ekpeson urged residents to make the spirit of Eid-el-Maulud a daily commitment to peace, compassion, brotherhood, tolerance and service to humanity, rather than values observed only during religious celebrations.

He congratulated Muslim faithful across Etsako East, Edo State and Nigeria, praying for greater peace, security, prosperity, unity and progress across the country.
