Fury Predicts Joshua Will Retire After £150m Blockbuster Clash
Tyson Fury has predicted that Anthony Joshua will retire from boxing after their highly anticipated £150 million showdown in Cardiff on December 11, while insisting he has no intention of hanging up his gloves.
The British heavyweight rivals are expected to settle their decade-long rivalry at the Principality Stadium, with a reported £150 million purse making the blockbuster encounter one of boxing’s most lucrative spectacles.
Speaking to WSVN Miami, the 38-year-old Fury questioned Joshua’s previous reluctance to fight him, claiming the former Olympic champion had turned down the opportunity several times before agreeing to the proposed showdown.
“I never thought it would happen,” Fury said. “I didn’t think he had the minerals to get in there with the ‘Gypsy King’… Four or five times he turned the fight down. At the end of his career now he wants a final payday. I’ll give it to him, no problem.”
While suggesting Joshua could use the lucrative encounter as an exit from the sport, Fury made it clear that he intends to continue boxing beyond December.
The former world heavyweight champion described the contest as a clash between two modern-day gladiators, promising fans a memorable spectacle driven by pride, glory and financial rewards.
“What will fans see? They’ll see legendary fighters throwing down in their late 30s like all the greats did before,” Fury added. “Two modern-day gladiators throwing down. For pride, glory, and a whole lot of money.”
