Guardiola Rejects Italy Coaching Job, Chooses Family Break
Former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has turned down the opportunity to become Italy's next head coach, opting instead to take a break from football to spend more time with his family.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Guardiola's decision was based on personal reasons rather than financial considerations.
"Pep Guardiola said no to Italy due to a personal decision, it's not about a financial proposal. Guardiola will be back coaching at the right time and when he feels a new project is the best one possible; now dedicating time to family," Romano wrote on X.
The 55-year-old Spaniard is regarded as one of the most successful managers in football history, having enjoyed trophy-laden spells with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
His glittering career includes multiple domestic league titles and several UEFA Champions League triumphs.
The Italian Football Federation had identified Guardiola as its preferred candidate to lead the Azzurri, but the former Barcelona coach declined the offer as he continues his sabbatical from management.
Although he has ruled out the Italy job, Guardiola remains one of the most sought-after coaches in world football.
His eventual return to the touchline is expected to attract significant interest from top clubs and national teams.
For now, however, Guardiola is prioritising family life and plans to wait for a project he believes is the right fit before making a return to coaching.
