Hackers Breach Zenith Bank Database, Expose Limited Customer Informations
Hackers have breached the database of Zenith Bank, exposing limited customer information in what the bank described as part of a wider global cyberattack targeting organisations across multiple sectors.
In a notification sent to customers, the bank disclosed that the attackers accessed limited personal data, including customers' email addresses and phone numbers.
However, Zenith Bank assured customers that no sensitive banking information, such as account details, passwords, PINs or transaction data, was compromised.
The bank stressed that its core banking systems, digital platforms and other services remain secure and fully operational.
According to Zenith Bank, it immediately activated its incident response and cybersecurity protocols after detecting the breach, while investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the incident.
As a precaution, the bank urged customers to remain alert to phishing emails, text messages and phone calls, warning them never to disclose passwords, PINs, One-Time Passwords (OTPs) or other security credentials.
Zenith Bank reaffirmed its commitment to protecting customers' information and said it is working to establish the full scope of the breach while strengthening its security measures.
