"I Won't Ask the People to Campaign Alone" — APC Chairmanship Candidate Sunny Ekpeson Reveals Why His Wife, Brothers, Sisters, Family Members Tour Etsako East with Him
Mrs Helen Ekpetika Akiotu, elder brother, Hon. John Okogie Akiotu, younger brothers, Mr. Michael Omokhudu Akiotu and sisters along on his campaign tour across communities in the local government.
Addressing enthusiastic supporters during the tour, Ekpeson said his decision to campaign alongside members of his family reflects his conviction that true leadership begins at home and should be built on sacrifice, togetherness, and genuine commitment to the people.
According to him, he is not the kind of politician who would leave the burden of political campaigns solely on party members and the electorate while excluding his own family from the process.
"I am campaigning with my wife, my elder brother, my younger brothers and sisters because we share one vision—to make Etsako East great again. I am not the kind of politician who will allow the electorate to bear the stress and sacrifices of campaigning while my family stays behind. If the people are making sacrifices for this movement, my family must also be part of that sacrifice," he declared.
The APC standard-bearer explained that the campaign is more than an electioneering exercise, describing it as a movement aimed at restoring confidence in grassroots governance and delivering people-oriented leadership that places the welfare of citizens above personal interests.
He assured residents that, if elected, his administration would focus on infrastructural development, youth empowerment, women's inclusion, quality healthcare, improved education, agricultural support, and policies that will stimulate economic growth throughout Etsako East Local Government Area.
The candidate further urged party faithful and residents to remain united, peaceful, and committed throughout the electioneering period, stressing that victory can only be achieved through collective effort and sustained grassroots mobilization.
