INTERPOL Busts Cross-Border Vehicle Trafficking Ring, Recovers Stolen Lexus SUV and Toyota Hilux From Burkina Faso
The Nigeria Police Force, through INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, has successfully recovered and repatriated two vehicles stolen at gunpoint in Abuja and trafficked to Burkina Faso in a major breakthrough against transnational vehicle theft.

The recovered vehicles—a 2018 Lexus SUV and a 2025 Toyota Hilux—were traced to Ouagadougou through intelligence sharing and close collaboration between INTERPOL NCB Abuja and INTERPOL NCB Ouagadougou.

The operation also led to the arrest of a suspect, Issoufou Nagimou, who has been charged before the High Court of Burkina Faso over his alleged involvement in the cross-border vehicle trafficking network. The recovered vehicles have since been handed over to their rightful owners.

The Nigeria Police Force says the successful operation highlights the importance of international cooperation in combating transnational organised crime and has reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling criminal syndicates operating across borders.
