Kano Fixes N8.5m Initial Deposit For 2027 Hajj Pilgrims
The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced an initial deposit of N8.5 million for residents intending to perform the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage.
The board's Director-General, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, disclosed the development during a press briefing at the board's headquarters in Kano on Sunday.
According to Matawalle, the deposit was approved after broad consultations aimed at ensuring effective planning and smooth coordination of the pilgrimage exercise.
He explained that the board has introduced a transparent payment process, directing all intending pilgrims to make payments through bank drafts, which must be submitted to Local Government Hajj Centre Officers across the state.
The director-general cautioned prospective pilgrims against making payments through unauthorised individuals, stressing that only the official payment channels approved by the Kano State Government should be used.
He also announced that the sale of Hajj seats and payment for the 2027 pilgrimage commenced on July 12, 2026, and will end on September 26, 2026.
Matawalle urged intending pilgrims to complete their registration and payment well before the deadline, noting that early compliance would help the board make adequate preparations and ensure a seamless Hajj exercise.
