Lookman Features As Atletico Madrid Edge Deportivo In La Liga
Ademola Lookman was in action as Atletico Madrid secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Deportivo La Coruña in their La Liga encounter at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano on Saturday.
The Super Eagles winger made his 10th league appearance of the season for Diego Simeone’s side, delivering an energetic display in the first half before making way for Robin Le Normand at the interval.
After a tightly contested opening 45 minutes, Atletico found the breakthrough just three minutes into the second half.
A sweeping attacking move down the right flank was switched to the left, where Alejandro Grimaldo delivered a precise pass to Julian Alvarez. The Argentine striker made no mistake, finishing clinically in the 48th minute to give the hosts the decisive lead.
Deportivo responded with determination, pushing forward in search of an equaliser and putting Atletico’s defence under late pressure.
However, goalkeeper Jan Oblak and Atletico’s disciplined backline stood firm to preserve their clean sheet and secure all three points.
The victory provided another boost for Simeone’s men as they continued their La Liga campaign, while Lookman added to his growing number of appearances since joining the Spanish giants.
