Man Found Dead At Charlton Athletic Stadium
A man has been found dead at Charlton Athletic’s The Valley stadium, with police launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Officers were called to the Championship club’s stadium following an incident in the early hours of Monday morning. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Charlton Athletic confirmed the incident in a statement, saying the club is assisting police with their enquiries.
“The death remains under investigation. Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed the incident, is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 2809/18AUG,” the club said.

The club also expressed its condolences to the man’s family, friends and loved ones, while asking that the privacy of those affected be respected.

Charlton stressed that there was no suggestion of any wrongdoing by the club and praised its staff for their professionalism in handling the distressing situation.

Earlier on Tuesday, Charlton announced that their Under-21 Professional Development League fixture against Bolton Wanderers had been moved from The Valley to the club’s training ground at Sparrows Lane.

The match was relocated following the incident at the stadium.
Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
