Mbappé Brace Ends Barcelona’s Perfect La Liga Start As Real Madrid Win El Clásico
Kylian Mbappé struck twice as Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou on Sunday night, ending the Catalan giants’ perfect start to the La Liga season in a dramatic El Clásico showdown.
Barcelona entered Matchday 10 with nine consecutive victories, hoping to extend their winning streak to 10 matches ahead of the Ballon d’Or awards. However, it was Madrid who seized control of the highly anticipated encounter.
Mbappé opened the scoring in the 41st minute, capitalising on a fortunate deflection off a clearance inside the Barcelona penalty area to put the visitors ahead.
Barcelona responded strongly after the break, with Raphinha restoring parity in the 61st minute following an excellent exchange of passes that carved open Madrid’s defence.
With the contest seemingly heading for a draw, Mbappé delivered the decisive blow in the 87th minute. Eduardo Camavinga cut the ball back from the byline, allowing the French forward to fire into an unguarded net and secure his second goal of the night.
The victory takes Real Madrid to 24 points after 10 matches, moving them within three points of league leaders Barcelona and intensifying the battle for the La Liga title.
