NAF Airstrikes Eliminate Scores Of Terrorists, Destroy Hideouts In Borno
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced another significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against terrorism, following precision airstrikes that destroyed a terrorist enclave in Borno State and neutralised several fighters.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai carried out the operation on Friday, July 10, after intelligence reports indicated renewed terrorist activities around Yaganari in the Gezuwa area of the state.
According to him, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions confirmed the presence of terrorist camps, logistics facilities and other operational structures before the targets were engaged in coordinated precision strikes.
He said the bombardment destroyed key terrorist infrastructure and eliminated several insurgents, further weakening their operational capabilities.
Ejodame noted that the latest operation reflects the sustained pressure being exerted on terrorist groups, limiting their ability to move freely, regroup and launch attacks.
Reacting to the success of the mission, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, commended the personnel involved for their professionalism and dedication.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force's commitment to sustaining aggressive air operations in collaboration with ground troops to track down and eliminate terrorist elements wherever they are hiding.
Aneke added that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remain determined to build on the gains already achieved in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign, stressing that terrorists would continue to be denied safe havens and opportunities to rebuild their strength.
