Navy Recovers 132,000 Litres Of Suspected Stolen Crude In Rivers
The Nigerian Navy has recovered an estimated 132,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil from an illegal storage site in Allison community, Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The recovery followed an intelligence-led operation conducted on October 22, 2026, by the Forward Operating Base BONNY under Operation DELTA SENTINEL.
Naval spokesman, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, disclosed that the operation uncovered 10 dugout pits containing the suspected stolen petroleum product.
He said the discovery disrupted a potential storage point in the illicit petroleum supply chain, adding that the site and recovered products were handled in accordance with existing regulations.
Folorunsho said the operation underscored the importance of intelligence-driven efforts to uncover concealed petroleum stockpiles and dismantle the infrastructure supporting crude oil theft and the illegal movement of petroleum products.
He reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to sustaining operations against illegal refining facilities and networks involved in crude oil theft across the Niger Delta.
The Navy also urged community leaders, residents, traditional institutions and other stakeholders to report crude oil theft, illegal refining, suspicious petroleum storage and unauthorised movement of petroleum products to the nearest security agency.
The spokesman stressed that timely and credible information from the public would enable security agencies to respond swiftly and prevent criminal activities from spreading.
He added that protecting the nation’s petroleum assets required sustained vigilance and cooperation between security agencies and host communities.
