‘Nothing More to Say’ After Reading Ronaldo’s Statement – Jorge Jesus
Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus has refused to prolong his public dispute with Cristiano Ronaldo, saying he has nothing further to add after reading the forward’s detailed statement about their recent disagreement.
Jesus spoke to reporters on Wednesday morning as he left his residence for the Portuguese Football Federation headquarters, confirming that he had read Ronaldo’s account of the events that led to the striker’s departure from the national team camp during the recent international window.
“I read the statement and now, like I do every day, I’m going to the Federation headquarters to work, to think about the Portuguese national team. I have nothing more to say,” Jesus said, according to a post by Fabrizio Romano on X.
Ronaldo, 41, had released a lengthy statement on Tuesday outlining his version of the dispute with the Portugal coach.
The veteran forward accused Jesus of breaking his word on two occasions. He claimed the coach promised to introduce him against Norway after he had warmed up but failed to do so.
Ronaldo also alleged that Jesus subsequently failed to deliver agreed talking points during a press conference, further escalating the disagreement.
Jesus had previously insisted that there was no lasting rift between the pair and maintained that Ronaldo remained available for future selection.
His latest comments suggest he intends to move on from the controversy and concentrate on his responsibilities with the Portuguese national team.
