Olu Jacobs Laid To Rest In Lagos As Family, Nollywood Stars Pay Final Tribute
Celebrated veteran actor, Olu Jacobs, has been laid to rest in Lagos following a funeral service attended by family members, friends, colleagues and prominent figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

The funeral service was held on Thursday at This Present House Church in Lekki, Lagos, where mourners gathered to honour the legendary thespian, who died on September 16, 2026, aged 84.

The emotional ceremony featured tributes and performances in remembrance of the revered actor, who was widely regarded as a mentor to generations of Nigerian actors.

R&B singer Darey Art Alade performed his hit song, Pray For Me, during the service, with Olu Jacobs’ widow, actress Joke Silva, and other mourners singing along.

Another major moment was the presentation of a biography documenting the life and career of the late actor by his son, Olugbenga Jacobs.

Following the funeral service, Olu Jacobs’ remains were conveyed to a private cemetery where he was interred.

The burial came a day after a Night of Tributes was held at Glover Memorial Hall on Lagos Island, where Nollywood stars, friends and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of the veteran actor.

Olu Jacobs leaves behind a remarkable legacy spanning decades in Nigerian theatre, film and television, with his influence extending across generations of performers.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
