Police Arrest Four Over Assault, Public Humiliation Of Alleged Fraud Suspect In Ondo
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested four persons for allegedly assaulting and publicly humiliating a man accused of making a fake bank transfer to a Point of Sale (POS) operator.
The incident, which gained widespread attention after a viral video surfaced online, showed the victim, identified as Boluwaji Temidayo, being beaten and forced to dance with a POS machine balanced on his head.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the victim reported the incident at the Okuta Elerinla Police Station on Thursday, alleging that he was attacked by a group of individuals who also recorded the assault without his consent before sharing the footage on social media.
Jimoh said the victim informed police that the incident occurred on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
Following the complaint, the command launched a technology-driven investigation, deploying digital intelligence and forensic tools to identify those involved in both the assault and the circulation of the video.
The investigation led to the arrest of four suspects identified as Gbemisola Ariyo, Babatunde Eniola, Adams Tobiloba, and Fasusi Bunmi, who are alleged to have participated in the attack and the recording and dissemination of the footage.
The police condemned the act of jungle justice, stressing that members of the public should report suspected criminal activities to law enforcement agencies instead of taking the law into their own hands or subjecting suspects to public humiliation.
The command added that investigations are ongoing and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice is served in accordance with the law.
