PSG Suffer Major Blow as Kvaratskhelia Faces Surgery After ACL Rupture
Paris Saint-Germain have suffered a major injury setback after confirming that winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will undergo surgery in the coming days following a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee.

The French champions announced the diagnosis on Wednesday after the Georgian international was forced off during Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against Barcelona.

Kvaratskhelia sustained the injury while tracking back to challenge a Barcelona player before the hour mark. The winger was unable to put weight on his right leg and had to be assisted off the pitch by PSG’s medical staff.

The diagnosis confirmed fears over the severity of the injury, dealing a significant blow to the Parisian side, who have relied on the winger’s attacking quality and creativity.

PSG also confirmed injuries to forward Ousmane Dembélé and Brazilian defender Marquinhos, compounding their growing fitness concerns.

Dembélé suffered a muscle injury in his left thigh during the first half, while Marquinhos sustained an injury to his right thigh after the break.

According to the club’s medical update, both players will remain under medical supervision over the coming weeks as they continue their recovery.

The triple injury setback presents a major selection headache for manager Luis Enrique as PSG prepare for a demanding run of domestic and European fixtures.

Kvaratskhelia’s recovery period will depend on the outcome of his surgery and the progress of his rehabilitation, leaving PSG awaiting further medical assessments to determine when their influential winger could return to action.
