Rescued Oyo Principal: Kidnappers Killed Teachers To Pressure Government
The principal of Community High School, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, has revealed that the kidnappers murdered two abducted teachers in an attempt to force the government to meet their demands.

Speaking on Monday after she, other teachers and pupils were reunited with Governor Seyi Makinde at the Oyo State Government House, Alamu said the abductors deliberately killed Mathematics teacher Michael Oyedokun and Esiyan Adegboye to increase pressure on authorities, believing the widespread public attention would compel the government to act.

According to her, Oyedokun was beheaded on the second day of their captivity, while Adegboye was later shot dead during the ordeal.

Alamu said the victims spent 56 days in captivity, enduring harsh conditions in the open forest under rain and intense sunshine while trying to protect and encourage the children.

She recalled that despite moments of hope, survival depended largely on faith and the prayers of well-wishers.

Although she was not physically assaulted, the principal disclosed that many of the younger pupils were severely beaten whenever they cried or made noise.

The rescued pupils and teachers were handed over to the Oyo State Government by the Federal Government after security agencies secured their release.

Before their handover, they received medical care and psychosocial support at the Military Hospital in Ibadan.
Governor Seyi Makinde welcomed the victims at the Government House, while the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, also visited them during their recovery.
