Sowore Blasts Obi, Accuses NDC Leaders Of Raking In ₦9bn From Nomination Forms
African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has accused leaders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) of generating ₦9 billion from the sale of nomination forms while allegedly running the party from their homes.

Sowore also launched a scathing attack on Peter Obi, accusing the former Labour Party presidential candidate of moving between political platforms ahead of elections without a genuine commitment to challenging Nigeria’s political establishment.

In a statement posted on X, Sowore alleged that Obi and his political allies were exploiting public anger against the government rather than pursuing what he described as the liberation of Nigerians.

He accused Obi of using political parties during election seasons to divert public frustration and shield the political establishment from accountability.

“They don’t oppose Tinubu; they simply don’t want anyone to oppose him strongly enough to bring his disastrous reign to an end,” Sowore said, arguing that their politics was focused on managing opposition rather than confronting the system.

The AAC candidate also accused supporters of Obi and other political figures of discrediting critics and distracting Nigerians from the country’s underlying social and political challenges.

He named Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and Abia State Governor Alex Otti among those he alleged had contributed to narratives that diverted attention from these issues.

Sowore further referenced a remark attributed to Datti Baba-Ahmed, Obi’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election, describing President Bola Tinubu as their “favourite uncle”.

Obi contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party but has since moved to the NDC ahead of the 2027 general election.

Sowore’s criticism comes amid growing political realignments among opposition figures positioning themselves for the 2027 presidential race.
