Spain Defeat France 2-0 To Reach 2026 FIFA World Cup Final
Spain secured a place in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a commanding 2-0 victory over France in Tuesday's semi-final in Arlington, Texas.

La Roja took the lead in the 22nd minute when Mikel Oyarzabal calmly converted a penalty awarded after Lucas Digne brought down teenage sensation Lamine Yamal inside the box.

The goal was Oyarzabal's fifth of the tournament and marked the first time either side had fallen behind during their World Cup campaign.

Spain doubled their advantage in the 58th minute through Pedro Porro, who finished off an impressive passing move involving Dani Olmo to put Luis de la Fuente's side firmly in control.

France struggled to create clear-cut chances against Spain's disciplined defence despite introducing attacking reinforcements in the second half.

Goalkeeper Unai Simón was solid whenever called upon, while Marc Cucurella produced a crucial challenge to deny Kylian Mbappé.

With the victory, Spain advanced to Sunday's World Cup final, where they will face the winner of the second semi-final between England and Argentina.

France will now compete in the third-place playoff on Saturday.

In its post-match analysis, FIFA described Spain as the better side, praising their defensive organisation and clinical finishing. The world football governing body also noted that Spain limited France's attacking threats while making the most of their opportunities at the other end.

The win sends Spain into only the second World Cup final in the nation's history since lifting the trophy in South Africa in 2010, as they move one step closer to becoming world champions once again.
