Sunny Ekpeson To Attend Edo SHINE PHC Summit 2026 As Special Guest of Honour
Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Edo State Chapter, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson, who doubles as the Chairman Elect of Etsako East Local Government Council has been invited as the Special Guest of Honour at the forthcoming Edo SHINE Primary Health Care (PHC) Summit 2026.
The summit, organised by the Edo State Government through the Edo State Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency and development partners, is scheduled to hold on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, Benin City.
The event, themed "The Role of Strategic Leadership in Universal Health Coverage: From Policy to Local Action," will bring together policymakers, healthcare professionals, development partners, local government leaders, and other stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for strengthening primary healthcare services and advancing universal health coverage in Edo State.
According to the event programme, the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, will serve as the Guest of Honour, while the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole, is the Chief Host. The Executive Secretary of the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Coulson Oahimire Osoikhia, will serve as the Host, with Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson attending as the Special Guest of Honour.
Ekpetika's invitation underscores the vital role of local government leadership in the delivery of quality primary healthcare services and the pursuit of universal health coverage across Edo State. His participation is expected to further strengthen collaboration between state and local government authorities in advancing healthcare reforms and improving access to essential health services at the grassroots.
