Nigeria's Super Eagles have retained their 26th position in the latest FIFA Men's World Rankings released on Monday, but have slipped to fourth place among African nations after Egypt moved ahead in the continental standings.
The three-time African champions have not been in action since suffering a 2-1 defeat to Portugal in an international friendly in June, leaving their global ranking unchanged.
Egypt climbed to third in Africa following an impressive run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Pharaohs reached the Round of 16 before narrowly losing 3-2 to eventual runners-up Argentina.
Morocco remain Africa's highest-ranked team after rising to sixth in the world following their quarter-final appearance at the World Cup.
Senegal continue to occupy second place on the continent despite dropping three places globally, while Algeria complete Africa's top five.
At the top of the global rankings, newly crowned FIFA World Cup champions Spain reclaimed the number one spot, pushing Argentina down to second.
France, England and Brazil round out the world's top five teams.
FIFA also confirmed that the next Coca-Cola Men's World Ranking will be released on October 7, 2026.
