Super Falcons Draw Morocco In Crucial 2028 Olympic Qualifier
Nigeria’s Super Falcons face a stern test against Morocco in the third round of the qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games after powering past Comoros with a commanding 7-0 aggregate victory.

The pairing was confirmed on Wednesday following Nigeria’s emphatic 5-0 win over Comoros in the second leg of their second-round encounter in Ikenne on Tuesday. The Falcons had won the first leg 2-0 to seal a comfortable passage into the next round.

Toni Payne and Uchenna Kanu were among the goalscorers in the return leg, alongside Christy Ucheibe, as Nigeria underlined their determination to return to the Olympic stage.

The two-legged showdown against Morocco is scheduled for February and March 2027, with the Falcons facing a formidable opponent they know well.

Morocco advanced to the third round after Congo Brazzaville withdrew from the competition, handing the North Africans a walkover.

The upcoming clash will revive memories of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final, where Nigeria staged a remarkable comeback from two goals down to defeat Morocco 3-2 and clinch a record-extending 10th continental title.

The Falcons will be desperate to reproduce that fighting spirit as they pursue qualification for their fourth Olympic appearance, having previously featured at Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.

Nigeria have not featured at the women’s Olympic football tournament since the Beijing 2008 Games and will view the Morocco tie as a significant hurdle in their quest to end that long absence.
