Tinubu Orders Urgent Intervention on Benin–Agbor–Asaba, Ifaki–Kabba–Ado Ekiti Roads
ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Federal Ministry of Works to urgently intervene in the worsening condition of the Benin–Agbor–Asaba road and the Ifaki–Kabba–Ado Ekiti road corridors, following growing concerns over the hardship faced by motorists and commuters.
The affected routes cut across Edo, Delta, Ekiti and Kogi States, with reports indicating that travellers have been spending several hours and, in some cases, days navigating the deteriorating roads.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed the presidential directive in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 25, by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Francis Nwaze.
Umahi said the ministry had immediately commenced steps to address the challenges and restore smooth movement along the affected corridors.
The intervention is expected to ease the difficulties faced by commuters, reduce prolonged travel times and improve the safety and accessibility of the vital road networks.
The development comes amid increasing calls for urgent government action to rehabilitate critical roads across the affected states.
