Tinubu Promotes Over 100,000 Paramilitary Personnel In Three Years
President Bola Tinubu’s administration has promoted more than 100,000 personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) and Federal Fire Service (FFS) between 2023 and 2026.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, disclosed the figures following a meeting of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), where issues concerning career progression, personnel welfare and institutional reforms were reviewed.
According to figures released by the minister, more than 32,000 personnel were promoted in 2023, over 20,000 in 2024, more than 24,000 in 2025, and 27,624 officers were approved for promotion in 2026.
Tunji-Ojo said the sustained promotion exercises were aimed at tackling career stagnation, boosting morale and rewarding deserving officers across the four paramilitary agencies.
He noted that delayed promotions had remained a major concern among personnel, affecting motivation, productivity and professional development.
The minister added that the board had also validated a comprehensive healthcare policy framework to improve the health and well-being of officers and men across the services.
He said the framework, alongside regular promotions, formed part of efforts to strengthen the institutions under the Ministry of Interior and improve their operational effectiveness.
Tunji-Ojo, however, stressed that the impact of the healthcare policy would depend on effective implementation, adequate funding and accessibility for eligible personnel.
He said the administration remained committed to building a disciplined, motivated and healthy workforce capable of delivering effective security and public safety services.
