Troops Arrest Sudanese Terror Suspect, Ghanaian Illegal Immigrant In Borno
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a 32-year-old Sudanese national, Musa Fashir, suspected of being a foreign terrorist fighter and collaborator during an intelligence-led operation in Borno State.
Military authorities said preliminary investigations suggest the suspect has links to terrorist elements, raising fresh concerns over the involvement of foreign nationals in supporting insurgency activities in Nigeria's North-East.
In a separate operation, troops also arrested Mary Florence, a 36-year-old woman who claimed to be an illegal immigrant from the Republic of Ghana.
Security officials said investigations are ongoing to verify her identity and determine the circumstances surrounding her presence in the area.
The two suspects are currently in military custody, where they are undergoing profiling and interrogation to establish the extent of their activities and any possible links to terrorist groups or transnational criminal networks.
The military described the arrests as another significant breakthrough in its intelligence-led operations, noting that they demonstrate Operation Hadin Kai's commitment to dismantling terrorist logistics, financing and support networks, while preventing the infiltration of foreign fighters into the North-East.
