With the transfer window approaching its conclusion, several clubs are continuing negotiations as they seek to complete their remaining business.
Manchester City have reportedly entered the race to sign Liverpool and Netherlands forward Cody Gakpo.
Gakpo, 27, has attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur, who are still working on a deal for the forward.
However, City’s reported interest could complicate Tottenham’s pursuit of the Liverpool star.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United have reached a verbal agreement with Manchester City for the signing of Spain midfielder Nico Gonzalez.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal is worth £47 million plus £3 million in add-ons, with Gonzalez, 24, set to move to St James’ Park.
Manchester United are also reportedly confident of persuading Arsenal to sell England international Myles Lewis-Skelly.
The 19-year-old, who can play at left-back and in midfield, is valued at more than £50 million by Arsenal, with the asking price currently proving a stumbling block in negotiations.
Newcastle are pursuing another attacking option after submitting a €40 million (£34.2 million) offer, excluding bonuses, for Lille and Belgium forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo.
The 21-year-old has emerged as a target for the Magpies as they look to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have reportedly seen three bids rejected by Bournemouth for England midfielder Alex Scott.

In another deal involving a young forward, Hull City have submitted a €21 million (£17.9 million) offer for Union Berlin and Germany Under-21 international Ilyas Ansah.
Talks over a long-term contract for the 21-year-old are reportedly at an advanced stage.

The 28-year-old could become a target for the Italian giants as they assess their defensive options before the transfer deadline.
