VDM: Davido Never Gave Me Money, Didn't Fund My NGO
Controversial social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has dismissed widespread claims that Afrobeats superstar Davido financially supported either his career or his non-governmental organisation (NGO).

The clarification comes amid reports of a fallout between the two, nearly three years after they publicly struck up a friendship in October 2023, when Davido invited the activist to Lagos.

In a video shared on his social media platforms, VDM said the public had been misled into believing Davido sponsored his trip to Lagos and contributed to his NGO. According to him, those assumptions were false.

He explained that he personally paid for his flight to Lagos and covered his hotel expenses during the visit, adding that the narrative suggesting otherwise was allowed to persist for entertainment purposes.

VDM also denied ever receiving financial support from Davido for his NGO.

"Whenever I talk about Davido, people say, 'Look at everything Davido has done for you. He flew you to Lagos and funded your NGO.' Today, I want to clear the air," he said.

"I paid for my flight ticket to Lagos and paid for the hotel where I stayed. We allowed that narrative to continue for entertainment. People also claim Davido donated to my NGO, but that never happened."

He further stated that while Davido had promised to support him, he never requested financial assistance and had not received any money from the singer.
"I never asked him for money.

He was the one who promised to do something, but I didn't demand it. Ask Davido if I have ever collected even ₦1,000 from him since we met," VDM said.

Neither Davido nor his management has publicly responded to the claims at the time of filing this report.
