"Your Title Is Not Atayese Of Yoruba Land, Keep It Inside Your House" — White Witch Oluwo Agbaye Blasts VeryDarkMan, Says Oluwo Of Iwo Is Not First-Class Oba To Give Pan-Yoruba Title
A traditional and cultural commentator, White Witch Oluwo Agbaye, has slammed social critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, over his recent chieftaincy title as Atayese of Iwo land, warning him not to parade it as a title that covers Yoruba land.
VeryDarkMan was recently conferred with the title of Atayese of Iwo land by the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, in a ceremony that generated wide attention on social media. But Oluwo Agbaye in a video address said the title has been overrated by the activist.
On the scope of the title, Oluwo Agbaye said "Darkman, Very Dark Man, the Ratel leader. You know I like you. Don't make a mistake. Don't be a political instrument. The title that was given to you at the palace of Iwo, Oluwo of Iwo, Atayese, is not, you are not Atayese of Yoruba land oh. You are not even Atayese of Nigeria, talk of Yoruba land. And mind you, even some people from Iwo, they say you are not Atayese of Iwo. You don't know our culture in Yoruba land here."
He questioned the authority of the Oluwo of Iwo to confer a title that covers the entire Yoruba race, saying "We have some Obas who are first-class, who have right to give chieftaincy titles to people. And especially when it comes to Osun State. Osun State, Oluwo is not part of first-class Oba in Osun State oh. He is not part of people that can give chieftaincy that can cover Yoruba land. When you are talking about king in Yoruba land that can give title that cover Yoruba land, you should be talking of Ooni Risa, Ooni of Ife. You should be talking about Timi of Ede. Then you should be talking about Ataoja of Osogbo. Those are the king that have right to give chief title that can cover Yoruba land."
Oluwo Agbaye accused VeryDarkMan of being used as a political instrument, linking his movements to partisan politics. He said "Yes, I see one of your video where you went to Oyo State, to the governor office of Seyi Makinde. And for me, it seems you are working for PDP. Yes, to me it seems you are working for PDP, because the area you are touching, people we are wise. And I'm not a political propaganda or political supporters, I don't vote, I don't have time," adding that if he was not a political instrument, "the first place that you supposed to go to if you are not a political instrument, it is the palace of Ooni Risa."
He ended with a stern warning to VeryDarkMan to keep the title low-key, saying "The Oluwo has no right to give you the title that cover Yoruba land, don't deceive yourself. Don't deceive yourself. Just keep your title inside your house. Don't put it in a place number, and you are saying you are coming to Yoruba land, they will remove it. It shall be well with you, I like you Ratel, but, ibi to ni ile ba fona si, l'alejo n to. The meaning is that where the landlord show you, that is where you must pass.
