Joshua Targets Impressive Victory Over Prenga
Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua says he is treating his upcoming bout against Kristian Prenga as a serious contest rather than a warm-up fight, insisting he is determined to deliver an emphatic performance.
Joshua will face the Albanian heavyweight on July 25, 2026, at the Jeddah Superdome in Saudi Arabia. Although he is widely regarded as the favourite, the British boxer says he is fully focused on making a statement in the ring.
Prenga heads into the fight with an impressive 20-1 professional record, with all 20 of his victories coming by knockout.
The Albanian has also declared his intention to upset Joshua's plans for a potential blockbuster showdown with Tyson Fury.
Speaking ahead of the contest, Joshua said he is approaching the fight with complete seriousness.
“I don't see it as a tune-up fight, and I don't see it as the biggest challenge of my career. It's a fight.
“You've got to believe in yourself. I'm working hard, and I want to win. It's nothing personal against Prenga—it could be anyone. I want to beat him and do it in good fashion.
“I want to go in there and showcase my skills. This training camp has been about improving, and I want to show how good I am.
“Only God knows how the fight will end. I'm just working towards victory. He has a background in kickboxing and mixed martial arts, so we'll see how that translates into the boxing ring.”
Joshua hopes an impressive victory over Prenga will strengthen his claim for a long-anticipated showdown with fellow British heavyweight Tyson Fury.
